Walnut Canyon National Monument presents partially rebuilt structures and demonstration gardens that show the lifestyle of the earlier residents who lived in the area around 700 years ago. The pueblos and curved canyon walls enable you to see and imagine the agricultural and architectural traditions practiced by the Sinagua, the ancient Walnut Canyon inhabitants. Stunning geological formations combine with the curved canyon walls to ensure you can easily distinguish the dwelling rooms from nature's marvels. You can also enjoy sweeping views of the Canyon from different observation spots within the park. Walnut Canyon National Monument commonly experiences monsoon thunderstorms in the afternoon during the summer months.

Walnut Canyon National Monument shows traces left by the Sinagua, a tribe of diverse, resilient, and resourceful people who lived in the location. RV users can take their families for a memorable trip to the monument as it includes free admittance for kids under 15 years of age. The site operates year-round except on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, facilitating a convenient drive to the Canyon's attractions at any time for travelers with varying schedules. In addition, you can bring a pet in your RV during your visit since Walnut Canyon National Monument permits animals at the visitor center parking lot and on one of the Canyon's two trails.

How To Get To Walnut Canyon Monument

From the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, take I-17 and drive to I-40. Travel east along this route toward Albuquerque and take Exit 204 before heading south. Drive around three miles down this path and find the Walnut Canyon National Monument Visitor Center at the end of the road. 

The monument is open daily throughout the year except on January 1 and December 2. Also note that Walnut Canyon Monument is only open until 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
