Everglades National Park

Everglades National Park covers over 1.5 million acres of mangroves, marshes, and flatwoods, and it's only a few hours away from Orlando. If you want to see Florida's native wildlife, this park will give you the perfect opportunity. Panthers, manatees, and alligators can all be found here. Aside from the theme parks, this national park is one of the most-visited spots in the state; it welcomes over one million visitors per year. Everglades National Park is also an international landmark as it has been named a World Heritage Site. For those outdoor enthusiasts, this is the perfect location. Many people head to the Everglades to camp out or hike the trails. You can also get an excellent view of the park from an airboat. These boats take visitors on a guided tour of the park. Biscayne National Park

Anastasia State Park

Anastasia State Parkis another fantastic state park in Florida. It covers over 1,600 acres, and it's located just outside of St. Augustine. While you're there, you should explore the beach, marsh, and dune areas of the park. Anastasia State Park is known for its large population of birds. Many birders enjoy coming to this spot to see eagles, painted buntings, ospreys, and roseate spoonbills. For a closer look, the Ancient Dunes Nature Trail is an excellent way to spot these native birds.

Skidaway Island State Park

Skidaway Island State Park is outside the heavily populated area of Savannah. It is also close to the Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge. If you have a boat, a public boat ramp is less than a mile from the park so you can try your hand at fishing for some dinner in the lake. Skidaway Island State Park is surrounded by water, but there's limited beach access. You can get out and explore in this state park as some trails wind through the maritime forests and salt marshes. These paths all lead to the elevated boardwalk and observation tower. At the top of the tower, you can get a great view of the island.

Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens

The park also contains a water source that many believe was the famed Fountain of Youth. You can still visit this location and see some of the Spanish artifacts in the park. 

Savannah Historic District

If you want to see Savannah in its pre-Civil War days, then you should head to the historic district. This area protects Savannah's antebellum city limits, and it's been named a National Historic Landmark District. The Savannah Historic District is the largest urban preservation district in the United States.
