Chenango Valley State Park covers 1,137 acres in south-central New York along the Chenango River. The landscape features mature forests, wetlands, and two pristine lakes. With a sandy beach and clear glacial waters, the state park is a popular location for fun on the water throughout the summer. Visitors can also take advantage of winter recreational activities when the park turns into a frozen wonderland. Throughout the year, special events are hosted at Chenango Valley State Park, including the Binghamton Pond Festival, which runs on weekends in the winter and brings ice hockey to the lake.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Chenango Valley State Park
Chenango Valley State Park has 184 sites across two campgrounds, and it is open from mid-May through mid-October. Some sites have electric hookups. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. The smaller campground is located next to the park office, a picnic area, and the lake. The larger campground is situated along the riverfront and is within walking distance of the boathouse and swimming area. The max RV length is 55 feet. Bathhouses with showers are provided in both camping areas.
What to Do at
Chenango Valley State Park
The 18-hole Chenango Valley State Park Golf Course is open seasonally and offers cart and club rentals. Kayak and canoe rentals are available for fun on the lakes, and the well-stocked lakes are ideal for ice fishing. Hiking trails, a swimming beach, and a playground add to the opportunities for outdoor fun for all ages. In the winter, visitors can take advantage of snowshoe rentals at the park office. Ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing are also popular activities after winter arrives at Chenango Valley State Park.

Fishing
Fishing is permitted on land and by boat on the park's two lakes, Lily Lake and Chenango Lake. Bullhead, trout, perch, and bass are some fish commonly caught in both bodies of water.
Geocaching
Several caches are well-hidden in Chenango Valley State Park. You can find one with your smartphone or a GPS device. Once you do, sign the logbook and take a memento. Don't forget to bring an item along to leave for the next geocacher.
Nature Watching
With both wetlands and forests in Chenango Valley State Park, wildlife is abundant. Birders can observe kingfishers, herons, thrushes, ducks, warblers, nuthatches, and woodpeckers. Mammals include coyotes, minks, deer, otters, beavers, bears, foxes, and weasels.
Hiking
Numerous short hiking trails wind through the park, leading to the water, through the woods, and to scenic views. The longest trails are the Sylvan Trail, the 1.7-mile River Road Tow Path, the 1.5-mile Lily Lake Trail, and the 1.6-mile Chenango Lake Trail.
Boating
The boathouse is located on the southern end of Chenango Lake and offers non-motorized boat rentals. You can also bring your own kayak or canoe to the park and launch it near the boathouse.
Swimming
After a long hike or a few hours of fishing, the swimming area on Chenango Lake is the perfect place to cool off. This seasonal swimming area is located close to a parking lot, a playground, and restrooms.
How to Get to
Chenango Valley State Park
With its location northeast of Binghamton, reaching Chenango Valley State Park from all directions is easy. This is because Interstate 81, Interstate 86, and Interstate 88 intersect in Binghamton. From Binghamton, follow Interstate 88 toward Port Crane. In Port Crane, turn north on Highway 369. A few miles down the highway, you will see a sign marking the entrance to Chenango Valley State Park on the left.
Entering Chenango Valley State Park
Parking is available near the main entrance and the swimming area. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk. However, only the main park entrance near NY Route 369 is accessible year-round. The boathouse is open daily from mid-June through Labor Day weekend. The boating season is from April 15 to September 15, and boats are not permitted on lakes outside of this window.
The day-use fee is $7 per vehicle. Campsites start at $15 a night. It costs $16 to play nine holes at the golf course and $22 for 18 holes on weekdays. The rates are slightly higher on weekends and holidays.
