Evangola State Park is on the southern shore of Lake Erie, about 25 miles southwest of Buffalo, New York. The park covers 733 acres and offers many more structures for rent than other state parks. There are 11 pavilions, for example, and a banquet hall that seats 125 people. For a different sleeping experience, there are also six yurts for rent. The major attraction of the park is Lake Erie. There is a sandy beach, fishing opportunities, and hiking trails with waterfront views.

Evangola State Park Campground
If you want to stay inside the park, there are a few spots for your RV at Evangola State Park. All the campsites are within walking distance of the beach and snack shack. Three campground loops are throughout the park, and the RV sites are easily accessible from the road. While you're there, you can explore the nature trails or spend a fun day at the playground. Most of the campground facilities are handicap accessible.

Three Valley Campground
Three Valley Campground offers resort-style camping in Erie County. At this site, you can enjoy the in-ground swimming pool and clubhouse. There's also a new playground for some family fun. All the RV sites have electrical, sewer, and water hookups. Three Valley Campground even provides additional storage for a fee. If you want to spend some time out of the RV, there are a few cabins available for rent. It's $40 per night to secure your spot at this campground.

Mockingbird Park Campground
For years, Mockingbird Park Campground has been serving the Erie County area. This campground is situated along the Cattaraugus Creek, and it's one of the best spots for sportfishing in the state. Mockingbird Park Campground is open for the spring through autumn seasons. The RV sites offer electrical and water hookups. What to Do at
Evangola State Park
Many people enjoy meetups at Evangola State Park because of the extensive facilities for large groups that sometimes even include weddings. Lake Erie provides great water-based activities like swimming, windsurfing, and boating. The area is well-known for birding, too, as several species stop off in the area during times of migration. Additionally, there is an 18-hole disc golf course, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, basketball courts, a nature center, and a playground. If you visit for a day trip, there is a picnic area with tables overlooking the water and grills to cook a hot meal.
Hiking and biking within the park are popular for exploring New York's outdoors. If you love water, you can swim from the beach, boat on the lake, or fish in its waters.
Inside Evangola State Park
There are many reasons to visit Evangola State Park. You can enjoy biking, fishing, hiking, picnicking, camping, and hunting during the warmer months. The park even hosts the annual Tomato Festival in the summer. If you head to this park in the winter, you can participate in other fun activities, such as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
Hiking
There are several small hiking loops and one-way trails great for the whole family in the park. They have nifty names like the Marsh Run and the Rim Trail.
Stargazing
When the weather is clear and cloudless, the stargazing at this state park is excellent. You can take a blanket to the beach or set up a telescope at a picnic table and bring a snack to enjoy a fascinating evening of gazing at the heavens.
Flora and Fauna
Red-tailed hawks and songbirds flit around overhead while deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, and the occasional fox meander through the park. While exploring, you will see oak, maple, and cedar trees. In the spring and early summer, wildflowers such as irises, lilies, and trilliums add color to the park's grounds. Before you visit, check the park's schedule to find out when nature walks are available to learn more about the area's plants and wildlife.
Geocaching
Some of the staff of the park maintain a geocache. It's a bit of a hunt to find it, but once you do, you can take a souvenir and sign the logbook. However, remember to bring a family-friendly item to leave in the container for the next adventurer.
Fishing
Walleye and perch are two of the most common fish people catch from the shore or boat. Steelhead and even rare king salmon swim up the streams in and near Evangola State Park, and they respond well to spoons and spinners.
Boating
You can launch light watercraft like kayaks and canoes from the beach. If you want to take a larger boat on Lake Erie, there are several boat launches in the area.
Swimming
The swimming area is small, but the beach is much larger, making it perfect for an afternoon lounging in the sun. It is also an excellent place to take children because the water is shallow along the shore.
How to Get to
Evangola State Park
From Buffalo, drive southwest on Route 5, which avoids the tolls on the New York State Thruway. Route 5 goes straight to Evangola State Park.
From Jamestown and all points south, take Route 60 north until it intersects with Route 5. Follow Route 5 southwest all the way to Evangola State Park.
From Rochester and all points east, to avoid the tolls, follow Route 390 south until you reach Route 20. Exit 390, and take Route 20 west until you reach Depew. At Depew, Route 20 turns south. Follow it until you reach North Creek Road in North Evans. Turn northwest on North Creek Road, and take it Route 5. Turn southwest on Route 5.
Entering Evangola State Park
During the period from May until Labor Day, it's $7 per vehicle to use the parking area. At other times of the year, it's $6 per car. Parking is available near the entrance and the beach.

Frequently Asked Questions About Evangola State Park
Summertime is the best time to visit Evangola State Park because the water and the weather are mild, the fishing is at its peak, and the activities at the campground are in full swing. However, if water sports are not your focus, the fall foliage in the park is spectacular.
At the park, you will see deer and many smaller mammals, such as chipmunks, squirrels, and raccoons. Birders can watch for waterfowl, woodpeckers, jays, catbirds, and cardinals.
There are 80 RV-specific campsites in Evangola State Park. About 50 of them have electrical hookups. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring, and nearby restrooms.
All state parks in New York require reservations. You can make them up until 3:00 p.m. on the day you plan to arrive. The cost of most campsites is $15.
Pets are welcome at Evangola State Park. They may not enter the picnic areas, buildings, the disc golf course, or the beach area. In addition, they must be on a leash, and you are expected to pick up after your furry companions.
