Keewaydin State Park lies on the New York side of the St. Lawrence River. Visitors can see Canada across the waterway, which is used by ships headed to the ocean. Steep rocky outcroppings provide the perfect place to watch these ocean-bound vessels as they pass by. The view is stunning. The park was first established in 1962. Today, the outdoor recreation area is a popular destination for a variety of activities ranging from hiking to fishing.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Keewaydin State Park
Keewaydin State Park Campground features 48 pet-friendly campsites along the St. Lawrence River. Each one includes a fire pit and picnic table. Guests have access to bathrooms and showers. A playground and swimming pool are nearby. There are no hookups in the campground, but each site has a back-in driveway that accommodates RVs up to 40 feet in length. The campground is closed during the winter months.

Keewaydin State Park
Visitors to Keewaydin State Park can enjoy hiking along the riverfront or spend their days enjoying the various wildflowers and wildlife found here. Boating is another popular activity. If you don't bring your own boat, supplies and rentals are available at the park's marina.
Fishing
Fishing is allowed in Keewaydin State Park from the shoreline or your boat. The St. Lawrence River offers enthusiasts excellent fishing opportunities because of its depth and location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes. Here, you'll find a variety of species, such as smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, panfish, yellow perch, bullhead catfish, and muskellunge.
Geocaching
You'll need your GPS device or smartphone to participate in this family-friendly scavenger hunting game while visiting Keewaydin State Park. Once you find the cache, you can sign the logbook and take a memento. However, do not forget to bring a family-friendly item to leave in the container for the next adventurer.
Nature Watching
While visiting Keewaydin State Park, you may encounter bald eagles, playful otters, loons, and osprey. Walking the shoreline is a great place to spot these bird species and others.
Hiking
Keewaydin State Park has five beautiful hiking trails for guests to enjoy. The Port Trail and Port Loop Trail are only a half mile long. The Ships Bow Trail is slightly longer at one mile, while the Starboard Trail is 1.25 miles in length. The Connector Trail connects the Starboard Trail with the Port Loop.
Boating
Keewaydin State Park makes boating easy. The park has a convenient boat launch, and the marina is open seasonally for boating supply needs and boat rentals. Boats that are 36 feet or less can dock near the marina.
Swimming
Swimming is one of the main reasons locals visit Keewaydin State Park. The park has a well-cared-for Olympic-sized swimming pool that's free with your paid day-use pass. The pool is open from late June through Labor Day, and there's a lifeguard on duty during operating hours.
How to Get to
Keewaydin State Park
Keewaydin State Park is a 30-minute drive from nearby Watertown. Take Interstate 81 North to the NY-12 exit. Take NY-12 North for 2.8 miles. The park entrance will be on your left.
Entering Keewaydin State Park
Parking lots are found near the docks, the main entrance, the swimming pool, and the trailheads. The marina is open from May through October, but the park is open year-round. When the swimming pool is in operation during the summer months, the hours are from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

The summer months are the best time of year to visit Keewaydin State Park and enjoy all of the activities it has to offer. The swimming pool is open, and the weather is ideal for boating or strolling along the trails. This is also a good time to view the native wildflowers and wildlife.
Bird watchers will appreciate all of the bird species in Keewaydin State Park. Bald eagles, otters, loons, and osprey are commonly seen here. In the river, you'll find largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, panfish, northern pike, yellow perch, and bulkhead catfish.
There are 48 designated campsites for RVs up to 40 feet in length within Keewaydin State Park. These sites do not have hookups, but you will have access to bathrooms, showers, a playground, picnic areas, and a dump station.
Reservations are highly recommended and available in advance up until 3 p.m. on the day of your arrival. You can make reservations online or by phone. Campsites range in price from $15 to $23 per night, and non-New York State residents will be charged an additional $5 per night.
You are allowed up to two pets per campsite at Keewaydin State Park. All pets must be kept on a leash that measures six feet or less, and you'll need to show proof of their rabies vaccination when you arrive.
